Tamara Sky, Playboy’s Miss August 2007, is a Playmate with an edge. She has jet-black hair, combat boots, and a septum piercing. Tamara was raised with five brothers in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where she went to a private Catholic school. When she was 19 she won an American beauty contest in Florida, which inspired her to move to Miami and pursue a career as a model. “That’s when I started DJ-ing,” she said. “I practiced for hours every day.” Playboy found her on the decks at a club in Cancun. When Hugh Hefner saw her in Playboy Mexico, he wanted her for the American edition, and soon she was at Studio West.
A world class DJ, Tamara has toured North, Central, and South America as well as Europe and the Middle East. She was named Miami’s Best DJ in 2010. Tamara’s high-profile DJ gigs include playing Donald Trump’s birthday party and headlining events with Kim Kardashian, Janet Jackson, Keri Hilson, Carmen Electra, and Jenny McCarthy. She is the co-founder and resident DJ of Los Angeles’ underground party Lil Death, which has featured Crystal Castles, Brodinski, Gaslamp Killer, Klever, Jimmy Edgar, and Kastle.
After becoming a Playmate, Tamara spent a few weeks at the Mansion, where her favorite thing was the 24-hour chef service. She appeared on The Girls Next Door and has been featured in the magazines Ocean Drive, 944, and Missbehave. She is a spokesmodel for the clothing brand Luxirie of LRG. Tamara showed off her DJ skills on commissioned mix tapes for Casio G-Shock, W Hotels, and the Australian fashion brand WeAreHandsome. She is a contributing writer at the electronic music blog Gotta Dance Dirty.
