About Torrie Wilson
For Torrie Wilson, acting, modeling, and throwing other people to the ground in the middle of a ring are one in the same.
“I never really had the intention of going into the wrestling business or even staying in the wrestling business, but I kind of fell in love with it,” Torrie said in an interview with Film Monthly. “The rush you get from performing in front of thousands of people at a time, well, there’s no feeling like it.”
This retired Worldwide Wrestling Entertainment and World Championship Wrestling star has used her toned physique and long blond locks to her advantage for years. She first pursued modeling, and the dieting and training that modeling demanded meant that when Torrie went to a WCW show, she got noticed. “One of the wrestlers approached me about doing a little storyline with him for a few months,” Torrie said. “I jumped at the chance. It really just snowballed from there.”
Snowballed … into an almost 10-year career, a five-year marriage to professional wrestler and wrestling producer Peter Gruner (stage name Billy Kidman), and a platform for modeling and acting.
Torrie appeared in countless bikini tournaments and lingerie matches (the winner is the first to strip her opponents down to their bras and panties) and replicated that atmosphere in her two Playboy cover appearances, including one with Rena Marlette Lesner (stage name Sable). Her solo cover, in May 2003, was labeled with the headline “WWE Wrestling Goddess.”
Outside of wrestling and magazine-cover appearances, Torrie has graced the screen for several music videos (including Timbaland’s “Throw It on Me”) and made a guest appearance at the Special Olympics World Games in 2007.
Torrie is also an entrepreneur. She ran the men’s and women’s clothing store Jaded in Woodlands, Texas, with then-boyfriend (and wrestler) Nick Mitchell from 2007 to 2010.
She dated the New York Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez from 2011 to 2015. No matter who she’s dating, staying in shape continues to be her favorite way to get in the mood, she told Stuff Magazine in 2000. “When I workout, I swear to God, I cannot keep my hands off of my boyfriend,” she said. “I’m like, ‘I want to rip your clothes off. Are you going to take me somewhere or what?’”
