You’ve probably seen Plastic Jesus’s art on someone’s t-shirt or the streets. Hollywood stars like Miley Cyrus have promoted his work, the stencil that screams “STOP MAKING STUPID PEOPLE FAMOUS.“ His latest street piece is Coked-Out Oscar, a life-sized Oscar statuette kneeling over, sniffing cocaine, which he installed on the trendy streets of Los Angeles to widespread controversy last week.
Playboy’s Correspondent Yoonj Kim gets rare access behind the scenes with the artist, who keeps his identity hidden due to the illegal nature of his work. He talks street art and the motivation for his drug use-inspired art, then shows us his team’s covert journey in setting up the piece in front of an Urban Outfitters. Watch the entire adventure and passerby’s reactions to it.
The piece is currently showing at LAB ART in Los Angeles, yours to take home for $25,000.
