Depending where in the world you live, exotic meat can mean a variety of different things. In the United States meats other than poultry, beef and pork generally fall into the category of “exotic.“ For Anshu Pathak, owner of the Exotic Meat Market in Perris, Calif., no meat is too “exotic” to eat, including lion, which he claims he harvests himself from an undisclosed lion farm in the Midwest.
Where do we draw the line between the animals we eat and don’t eat? And is it more moral to eat a factory chicken versus a farm-raised llama? These were a few of the questions raised when Playboy’s Yoonj Kim visited Pathak’s farm to find out what drives America’s most controversial butcher before sitting down for a blind taste test with several local foodies.
