Journalista: This Life-Saving Overdose Prevention Drug Is Becoming Too Expensive for Addicts

Overdoses are the number one cause of injury-related death in the U.S. Community centers across the country work to combat them through harm reduction programs like clean needle exchanges and sanitary bathrooms. When opiate overdoses do occur, there is a drug called Naloxone (also known as Narcan) that can reverse its effects and save the person’s life. This medicine is publicly available, but an increase in demand has caused its price to skyrocket as well. Playboy’s Yoonj Kim finds out more about this life-saving drug at a homeless shelter in downtown Los Angeles — and witnesses a stunning event.
