Gambling on Hef, the Playmates and the Girls of the Hard Rock is always a safe bet
It's a sure thing that a Playboy party in Las Vegas will be a big winner -- especially when Hef and a bevy of Playmates hit the hottest spot on the Strip, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. And when you add the Hard Rock's own sexy girls, as well as performances by two of the hottest new rap groups, you could bet the house (or even the Mansion) on it.
Before the party, Hef and Hard Rock founder Peter Morton held a brief ceremony proving that nothing goes together better than sex and rock 'n' roll...and gambling. Hef donated 1999 Playmate of the Year Heather Kozar's gold Bunny costume to the Hard Rock, which reciprocated with the unveiling of a sleek Playboy slot machine. Then, with a quick pull on the one-armed bandit, it was time to party.
The exclusive, invitation-only Playboy's Music Awards Party -- celebrating the April issue's rockin' Girls of the Hard Rock pictorial and Playboy video -- kicked off at the Joint, the Hard Rock's concert venue. The high rollers who made the invite list realized they were dealt a sweet hand when they caught glimpses of Hef and his Seven Sweethearts; Playmates Suzanne Stokes, Jessica Lee, Deanna Brooks and Angel Boris in their Bunny costumes; and the Girls of the Hard Rock sporting white hip-huggers and tank tops.
On stage, surprise guest Steve Van Zandt donated his guitar from the Freedom No Compromises tour to the Hard Rock. Van Zandt, a longtime friend of Hef and a veteran of many Mansion parties, told Playboy.com that the only difference about this Playboy party was that "the people here have a lot more clothes on than at the Mansion."
When up-and-coming rap artists AKP (All Kinds of Problems -- www.akpmusic.com) hit the stage, Vegas vixens hit the dance floor and Hef's honeys jumped up out of their chairs to shake their booties. Rap group Alley Life kept the energy high to close the show. For Shane Geano, one of AKP's vocalists, playing for Hef at the Hard Rock was the ultimate. "It's Playboy. It's the Hard Rock. And it's all about music. This is by far the coolest thing we've ever done," he told Playboy.com.
