NFL Favorites Dominate Week 7 Sunday, Drive the Sharps Insane

Sunday’s slate of Week 7 games was truly something to behold, as favorites absolutely dominated the day with an 11-1 straight-up record, while also going 9-3 against the spread.

We had just about every kind of result in the 12 games, from blowout wins to a legendary fourth-quarter comeback. The only underdog to emerge victorious was the Indianapolis Colts (+1.5), who completely dominated the Los Angeles Chargers by the score of 38-24.

It all started with the Los Angeles Rams going ahead early and leading the whole way throughout against the Jacksonville Jaguars, winning convincingly by the score of 35-7 via five Matthew Stafford passing touchdowns. That 9:30 am ET kickoff over in London would set the tone for a day filled with justified expectations, and you can only hope you were on the right side of history.

Let’s take a look at some of the highlights, and lowlights, from Sunday’s games that led to the favorites having a memorable day.

1:00 Window

When we look back at the 1:00 window from Sunday, perhaps we shouldn’t be too surprised at the outcomes. Some of the league’s worst teams were on display, and you wouldn’t find too many shocked faces around the NFL – rather, people covering their faces in embarrassment.

The New York Jets lost at home (13-6) to the Carolina Panthers, which was actually the closest of the games with teams having 0-1 wins coming into Sunday. Carolina wound up being a slight favorite late in the week with Garrett Wilson not playing for New York. After this loss, the Jets will be rethinking their future at the QB position.

Some of the day’s biggest blowouts were against the league’s bottom feeders: Tennessee Titans (31-13 vs New England Patriots), and Las Vegas Raiders (31-0 at Kansas City Chiefs), and Miami Dolphins (31-6 at Cleveland Browns). The New Orleans Saints would also drop another game, this one to the Chicago Bears, by the score of 26-14.

Meanwhile, the closest game in the 1:00 window saw the defending-champion Philadelphia Eagles getting back on the good foot (after losing two straight games) with a 28-22 win over the Minnesota Vikings.

4:00 and Primetime Windows

In the late-afternoon session, the Dallas Cowboys’ 44-22 win over the Washington Commanders kept the favorites’ trend rolling. Unfortunately, the Commanders lost QB Jayden Daniels (hamstring) to injury in the third quarter, all but ending any attempt of a comeback.

One of the greatest comebacks in NFL history occurred on Sunday, as the Denver Broncos kicked a field goal as time expired to win 33-32 over the New York Giants. Entering the fourth quarter, the Broncos trailed 13-0 engineering one drive after another that resulted in points. In fact, the lead changed three different times during the game’s final two minutes, resulting in an incredible back-and-forth between two of the league’s most exciting young QBs, Bo Nix and Jaxson Dart.

However, the Broncos failed to cover the 6.5-point spread, just like the Green Bay Packers failed to do in their 27-23 road win against the Arizona Cardinals. The Packers needed a Josh Jacobs one-yard TD run to take the lead with 1:50 to go.

The San Francisco 49ers have been battling injuries all season, and they did it again by coming away with the 20-10 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday Night Football. It has been a very tough matchup for RBs facing the Falcons this season, but Christian McCaffrey regained his form and posted 201 total yards and two touchdowns.
