About Amber Heard
Actress Amber Heard was born April 22, 1986 in Austin, Texas. She dropped out of high school but later earned her GED. She moved to New York to pursue a modeling career but relocated to Los Angeles to pursue acting.
Amber started in music videos, including Kenny Chesney’s “There Goes My Life” and Eisley’s “I Wasn’t Prepared,” and made appearances in TV shows, including Friday Night Lights and The O.C.
In 2005, Amber broke through on the big screen playing the younger version of Charlize Theron’s character in North Country as well as roles in Drop Dead Sexy and SideFX. More movie and TV roles followed, and then in 2007 she starred as Greta Matthews in the short-lived CW series Hidden Palms. Her movie roles continued with parts in Pineapple Express, ExTerminators, and Zombieland.
“I said to the director, ‘Do I get to play a true zombie or am I a cleavage zombie?’” Amber told W magazine. “I had this fear that he was going to want me to be a zombie in my underwear! He said, ‘No—take it as far as you want.’ I said, ‘Get the vomit packs ready! I’m going to be ugly and gross!’ ”
That intensity served her well as she continued to work in films like The Ward, The Rum Diary, and 3 Days to Kill. She also starred on NBC’s short-lived series The Playboy Club in 2011, playing bunny Maureen. In 2015, she had roles in both The Adderall Diaries and Magic Mike XXL.
In addition to her acting, Amber gained media attention for her sexuality, coming out in 2010 as bisexual. "I don’t want to have to deny my sexuality in order to be me,” she told the Times of London. “But I don’t want to have to be defined by it. I’m fundamentally opposed to trying to edit myself to be palatable or popular. I don’t give a f***. I fight, but I shouldn’t have to.”
Amber began dating Johnny Depp in 2012 after the pair filmed The Rum Diary together. They wed in February 2015.
Amber has a love of cars and horses, which she took from her father. She built her own Mustang and keeps a horse in L.A. “When I’m in L.A., I come ride her five times a week. No matter how crazy things get, Arrow will immediately get me back to normal,” she told W.
