About Gal Gadot
Talk about high-profile. Batman v. Superman. Gucci. Jaguar. Fast and Furious.
Gal Gadot went from unsuccessfully auditioning for what would have been her first film, the Bond thriller Quantum of Solace, to scoring the part of Gisele in the Fast and the Furious series. She followed that up with Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Before all that, Gal was an Israeli girl pondering becoming a lawyer, competing in beauty pageants, and oh, serving in the Israeli military for two years. “In Israel, serving is part of being an Israeli. You’ve got to give back to the state,” she told Glamour. “You learn discipline and respect.”
Turns out that means she even did some of her own stunts in Furious 6. “I think the main reason was that Justin Lin really liked that I was in the military, and he wanted to use my knowledge of weapons,” Gal told Forward.com.
She loves the female action/superhero niche she’s found herself in. “Being a mother, it’s very important that #WonderWoman comes back to life, we need more female superheroes,” she said in a live-tweet conversation with fans.
One fan asked if she has any pre-filming rituals, and Gal’s is far from superstitious. “Do my homework! For me it super super super important to come prepared to work,” she tweeted. “I might look tough but I’m a nerd.”
In 2008, Gal married Israeli real estate developer Yaron Versano. The two had a daughter, Alma, in 2011.
Her favorite ways to pack on the pounds of muscle required for her heavy-duty roles are mostly focused around martial arts—jui jitsu, kick boxing, and sword fighting.
Her favorite way to get around? Also superhero-esque: the 2006 black Ducati Monster-S2R motorcycle she owns.
