Pledging AllegianceIt was probably wrong for Congress to have inserted "under God" into the pledge of allegiance ("One Nation, Under God, Divisible," June), but religious liberty will not be seriously compromised if it remains. Most of the founders did not understand the separation of church and state to mean an antiseptic cleansing of all religious references from official activity and statements.
