Playboy Fiction: Killing Town

A note from the co-author: When the best-selling American mystery writer of the 20th century, Mickey Spillane, passed away in 2006, his famous detective Mike Hammer had become, in the words of The New York Times, “an icon of our culture.” The two-fisted, lusty private eye appeared not only in such novels as I, the Jury and Kiss Me, Deadly, but also in comics and on radio, and on movie and TV screens. In the final week of his life, Mickey—my mentor, friend and occasional collaborator—said to his wife, Jane, “When I’m gone, there’ll be a treasure hunt around here. Take everything you find and give it to Max. He’ll know what to do.”
