The MLB Playoffs continue on this Wednesday in the National League, as the Milwaukee Brewers face the Chicago Cubs and the Philadelphia Phillies face the Los Angeles Dodgers. Both Game 3s have the potential to move a team closer to the NLCS, so this might be your last chance to catch two of these teams in action.
First up, the Cubs will fight off elimination at Wrigley Field against the division-rival Brewers. The Brew Crew has pulled ahead 2-0 thanks to 16 total runs, compared to only six from the Cubs, and it’s been done via different methods. In Game 1, it was timely hitting before Game 2’s HR Derby that saw them go yard thrice.
But the setting changes to the Windy City, and anything can happen with these tricky winds in October. The Cubs are hoping those winds will give them some much-needed breaks against MLB’s best team during the regular season.
Going from the Windy City to virtually no wind at all, we’ll close out the night with the Phillies and Aaron Nola fighting for their playoff lives. Philly’s superstars, Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper, have been eerily quiet in this series, but you have to wonder if tonight is the night that one of them breaks the cold streak; the Phils are hoping it’s both.
The Dodgers, fresh off a Philly road sweep, will look to close it out tonight with Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound. LA’s right-hander was better on the road, going 9-4 with a 2.13 ERA, compared to 3-4 with a 3.04 ERA at Dodger Stadium.
Let’s take a look at the best MLB prop bets from the Brewers-Cubs and Phillies-Dodgers contests in the NLDS.
What are the Best MLB Prop Bets for the Milwaukee Brewers at Chicago Cubs NLDS Game 3?
Andrew Vaughn – Over 0.5 Walks (+300)
Based on the numbers, we’re getting tremendous value on a guy who has drawn a walk in four of his last five games. Vaughn likely gets four plate appearances tonight, just as he’s done in nine of the last 10 games, and I doubt the Cubs want to test him much.
In Game 2, Vaughn had the big blast in the bottom of the first inning that immediately wiped out a 3-0 Cubs lead. I have to believe that’s fresh in their minds, and he will get pitched a bit more carefully because of it. Cubs starter Jameson Taillon has allowed 2+ walks in three of his last five games.
Seiya Suzuki – Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI (-105)
Suzuki is on a heater at the moment, clobbering six home runs in his last nine games dating back to the regular season. While the Cubbies haven’t been putting up wins against the Brewers, it certainly is not the fault of this man.
My reasoning for going with the H/R/RBI bet here is that I do see the Brewers being somewhat cautious with Suzuki at this point. He may not continue to get the greatest pitches, but this stroke with the longball is something to behold. Suzuki is 3-for-10 lifetime against today’s Brewers starter (Quinn Priester) with a home run and crushes his primary pitch – the sinker.
What are the Best MLB Prop Bets for the Philadelphia Phillies at Los Angeles Dodgers NLDS Game 3?
JT Realmuto – To Hit a Home Run (+650)
The Phils are riding the struggle bus hard right now, but there’s some real-world evidence to suggest Realmuto pulls through tonight.
For one, he’s the true heart and soul of this team behind the plate; they’re down 0-2 and he’ll be fired up to the high heavens. The matchup against Yamamoto isn’t bad either, considering 10 of his 14 home runs have come against righties. Realmuto has already tagged two balls 111 mph (single, triple) and another 104 mph (double), clearly making him the best Phils’ bat right now. He will complete the series cycle tonight!
Freddie Freeman – Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI (-118)
Aaron Nola gets the ball tonight for the Phillies, and one bug-a-boo over his career has been left-handed bats. This season, in particular, Nola was rocked by lefties, allowing 2.2 HR/9 and a 1.50 WHIP.
Freeman has seen Nola plenty over his career, going 18-for-76 (.237 avg) with four doubles and two home runs. One of the main appeals with Freeman is his elite contact rate (2 Ks in last 7 games), and the fact that he has guys like Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Teoscar Hernandez batting ahead of him. If any of those guys get into scoring position, Freeman will be in a great spot to clinch the win on this bet with one swing.
