Walking around midtown Manhattan, we noticed an inordinate number of jewelry stores. Say, two every block from 59th to 45th and from Lexington to Fifth. We visited these stores looking for something pretty and found that a lot of people are paying large amounts of money for little spoons to hang around their neck.
