Mysterious Insects Battle For Survival

I have observed for years that certain insects engage in bizarre battles. In these rare photographs, the struggle goes on between consenting adults of several species, including Atrociously horni (above left) and the Japanese swinger beetle. The reason for these activities is unclear, but the combatants never kill or even go steady. Specialists have reported observing similar behavior in dogs, cats, chickens, mice, cattle and humans.
