Anne Rice's first novel, Interview with the Vampire, will probably live forever, unless someone manages to put a wooden stake through its heart. The book is a lyrical, erotic, psychedelic portrait of the undead--quite probably the book that inspired the Count Drac revival. You should pick it up in paperback.
