Because she is a more accomplished actress than Joan Crawford ever was, Faye Dunaway pulls off an extraordinary stunt in the title role of Mommie Dearest (Paramount). She's not apt to win an Oscar but certainly deserves a carload of premium ham for her steam-roller performance as the fading, vengeful Hollywood legend at home with her adopted kiddies.
