If you want to live a long life, you should make sure that you're born a woman. Or--if born a man--you should have your testicles removed as early as possible. In 1969, James B. Hamilton and Gordon E. Mestler of the Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn showed that only castrated men--on average--live as long as women. But for every year after birth that castration is delayed, there is a corresponding shrink in lifespan of about three months and 11 days.All of that is the work of the sex hormones...
