Wynton Marsalis is a 20-year-old trumpet player originally from New Orleans. His father, Ellis, is a respected pianist who played with Al Hirt, who, in turn, gave Wynton his first horn at the age of six. Already a veteran of the bands of Herbie Hancock and Art Blakey, as well as of numerous classical orchestras, Marsalis formerly studied at Juilliard.
