Mock LynchingThe most insensitive and racist event in the history of Iowa—or, possibly, of any other state—involved a mock Ku Klux Klan lynching at the close of a parade in the city of Masonville. The "Klansmen" were dressed in proper robes, and a city councilman said he saw nothing wrong in the behavior of the country boys.
