The name, of course, is French. B-O-U-R-B-O-N. Heard a Frenchman say the word? They roll that R as though they were sipping whiskey. If the French had discovered it first, imagine the fuss they would have made over it. It was named after the king of France, of course, Louis XVI, who was honored by having a county in Kentucky named after him.
