Patch PreventionChicago--Research suggests that a contraceptive patch worn on the abdomen or buttocks may be as safe and effective as the pill. Manufactured by Johnson and Johnson, the matchbook-size device delivers low levels of estrogen and progestin through the skin to prevent ovulation. A study of 1417 women found the product to be 98 percent effective, about the same rate as the pill.
