Still Lucky to LoseArthur Schlesinger claims that if the Democrats had won in 2004, "abortion would remain a matter of choice, and stem-cell research and same-sex marriage would be matters for the states" ("Lucky to Lose," August). So why shouldn't abortion also be a matter for the states? Bill Clinton was a draft dodger, but the Dems insisted he could handle national security.
