Ex-NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown’s latest issue might be his last

Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown has been on the run for months, but his time may have just come up. Brown has been arrested on attempted murder, but he had fled to Dubai. He stayed there for months, but authorities have caught him and extradited him back to the USA to face charges. This all stems from a shooting at a nightclub in Miami in May.

Antonio Brown’s luck may have run out

For a long time, Antonio Brown would do inappropriate and sometimes illegal things but face very little consequences. When an attempted murder charge was brought forth, the former Pittsburgh Steelers wideout successfully evaded arrest for a while. Unfortunately for him, his luck has seemingly run out.

Miami police spokesperson Mike Vega said via ESPN that Brown was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals in Dubai. They transported the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers player to Essex County, New Jersey, and he will eventually be extradited back to Miami, where the incident first occurred outside a club in May.

Brown was accused of grabbing a handgun from a security staffer after a boxing match and firing two shots at someone he’d been physically fighting with earlier. One of the bullets allegedly grazed the man’s neck. He was initially arrested, but Brown was then released from custody. He attempted to explain everything away on his X account, which is where most of his statements, for better or worse, come from. “I was jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal my jewelry and cause physical harm to me,” he wrote. “Contrary to some video circulating, Police temporarily detained me until they received my side of the story and then released me. I WENT HOME THAT NIGHT AND WAS NOT ARRESTED. I will be talking to my legal council and attorneys on pressing charges on the individuals that jumped me.”

The arrest warrant was later issued on June 11, but he has only just now been brought back to the United States. This is, sadly, only the latest issue for the embattled former wideout. Here’s a timeline of events, according to Sporting News:

  • April 2018: Brown threw furniture out of a 14th-story window
  • November 2018: Reckless driving
  • September 2019: Brown complains about helmets with Raiders, gets fined, has an altercation with the GM, and is released
  • September 2019: Brown’s former trainer sues for sexual assault
  • September 2019: Brown is released by the Patriots after more sexual misconduct allegations arise
  • January 2020: Hit with several criminal charges – Felony burglary of a vehicle, misdemeanor battery, misdemeanor criminal mischief
  • January 2022: Exits NFL game midway through by taking off jersey and leaving stadium
  • October 2022: Allegedly exposed himself to guests in a hotel pool
  • October 2022: Posted on social media about Tom Brady’s divorce, indicating some involvement
  • June 2023: Arena League terminates Brown’s team after refusing to pay league what he owed
  • April 2023: Arrest warrant issued for failing to pay child support
  • May 2024: Filed for bankruptcy
  • April 2025: Made a suggestive comment about Gisele Bundchen on an Adin Ross livestream
  • November 2025: Arrested for attempted murder

Given how all that transpired, it’s hard to see Brown walking away free and getting away with this. With that in mind, it’s also hard to see how the above timeline can continue. Perhaps it’s for his own good, as this may prevent him from getting into any more trouble. The former wide receiver was a Hall of Fame talent, and there’s genuine concern that CTE from head injuries helped push him into this state, but either way, his Hall of Fame chances are slim to none now.
