Melting Pot (Stax) is the latest from Mr. Booker T. Jones and the MG's, the cream of Memphis-style rhythm-and-blues groups. It's a good, workmanlike performance but, curiously, lacks excitement. A background chorus does nice instrumental flashes on Kinda Easy Like, but the tune, like its title, is a cliché riff.
