Charli XCX and husband George Daniel tied the knot in July 2025, making their relationship government official. And though marriage certificates and state approval aren’t necessarily casual, Charli told Playboy that her marriage still is.
Our Fall 2026 cover star opened up about her relationship with Daniel, the drummer in The 1975, in a video for Playboy‘s social media, calling their whole affair quite relaxed.
“We’re very kind of like casual and relaxed with the whole marriage thing…it means a lot to us, but also at the same time, it’s like we could completely do without it, and we kind of would be as equally in love if we weren’t married,” she said. “It fits, but it’s not like a high pressure kind of a word for me.”
Whatever works! And clearly, this approach does work for the pair. Charli told Kylie Jenner in her cover story interview that she feels sexiest in two places: when she’s on stage, and when she’s with her husband. Earlier this year, she said that Daniel is the first person to really get her. “[He’s] the first person who really understood me so intricately, like my pros and my cons, let’s say,” she said on the July 30 episode of Apple Music’s Zane Lowe Show, speaking about her track ‘I’m Afraid,’ which is about her marriage.
“I think I owe so much to him because he has helped really allow me to kind of explore these different sides of myself in a way that, sometimes still feels a bit chaotic, but sometimes actually feels quite safe,” she continued in that July interview.
So, take it from Charli: make marriage a casual thing and you might just go the distance.
