In this day of the country cliché and the bluegrass shuck, it's almost unheard of to find an album that is as musically right as Sittin' In (Columbia). Kenny Loggins, with Jim Messina and company, has moved beyond countrified rock to something a lot more polished and interesting. Saxes, oboe, steel drums, fiddle, concertina and mouth harp periodically enter into things with such aptness that one can hardly conceive of these songs--all of them inventive and well written--being played differently....
