Carlotta Kohl
Carlotta Kohl was already set to make history when she flew to Costa Rica to become the first ever Playmate to photograph herself for Playboy. Little did she know she'd also be the first Playmate to be led by a mysterious sherpa dog to a waterfall, be robbed of her phone and bikinis (not by the dog), scrape her entire body on the beach, and contract what she suspects was scarlet fever all in the
same trip. Oh, and to top it off, her friend accidentally sat in a scorpion's nest while they were there.
Fortunately, in addition to her work as both a photographer and a model, Kohl has a bit of experience in these sorts of outdoor antics, having camped in the snow on Mount Shasta in California and having previously zip-lined naked on one of photographer Ryan McGinley's iconic road trip projects. For her, there are two types of fun: the kind you experience immediately and the kind you have only when accomplishing something difficult. This shoot, she recalls fondly, falls into the latter.
