Heisman Trophy Odds Updates: Latest Changes on Dante Moore, Fernando Mendoza & Jordan Maiava

Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe (4) going through pre-game reps.

This past Saturday showcased some of the most exciting college football games of the season, and that has certainly shifted the odds in the latest Heisman Trophy update. What would you expect from a slate that saw three schools inside the Top-10 all lose big-time matchups?

We saw #4 LSU lose a tough SEC battle at #13 Ole Miss, while #5 Georgia dropped a nail-biter at home to #17 Alabama. If all of that wasn’t enough, #6 Oregon went into Happy Valley and defeated #3 Penn State, after blowing a 14-point lead and allowing the first points of the extra session.

You would think all of the excitement was jam-packed into a round of the playoffs or something, but that’s not the case – that was just the end of the first full month of the college season! Buckle up, folks – we’re going on a wild ride, and these players in the Heisman Trophy race will certainly have a major part in how the story of the 2025-26 season is told.

Let’s check in on some of the Heisman Trophy favorites with increasing odds to win, as well as some players who slipped behind this past weekend:

Which CFB Players Have the Best Odds to Win the Heisman Trophy?

Dante Moore – Oregon, Heisman Trophy odds @ +750

Moore led the Ducks to an incredible 30-24 overtime win on the road at Penn State, going 29-for-39 with 248 passing yards and three touchdowns. If you watched Saturday night’s game, you know Oregon truly has something special here with this kid.

One of the great aspects of betting Moore to win the Heisman at this point is the Ducks’ schedule, which doesn’t have a lot of resistance in their way – vs Indiana next week, vs. USC (Nov. 22), and at Washington (Nov. 29) – until the Big Ten Championship Game. If you’re looking for a sure thing, Moore is your guy.

Ty Simpson – Alabama (+900)

Following an opening-week loss at FSU, Simpson has Alabama to a 3-0 record, highlighted by last week’s season-saving win at Georgia. The Tide has found itself a blossoming star, as evidenced by the 3-TD performance he had in the team’s biggest game of the season. At one point, Alabama was 11-for-11 on 3rd-down conversions, which is absolutely unheard of in front of that hostile crowd down in Athens.

Unfortunately for Simpson and Alabama, things will not be as easy ahead as they will be for Moore and Oregon. The Tide has three straight games against ranked opponents, and in five of its next six games, before a season-ending battle on the road at Auburn for the Iron Bowl.

Which CFB Players are Falling in the Heisman Trophy Race?

Fernando Mendoza – Indiana (+1100)

It’s not much of a drop, but Mendoza is trending down after being the favorite (+700) in last week’s Heisman odds. Indiana did have a hard-fought 20-15 victory on the road at Iowa, but apparently that victory wasn’t enough to keep Mendoza atop the list.

Mendoza went 13-for-23 with 233 yards and two touchdowns through the air while adding 26 yards on the ground. On the road ahead, Mendoza has some brutal road matchups ahead at Oregon on Oct. 11 and Penn State on Nov. 8, which could ultimately end his chances.

Jayden Maiava – USC (+3500)

I really don’t understand the huge dip in Maiava’s odds (last week: +1600), considering he did orchestrate a late drive to give USC the lead with 1:55 left before Illinois came back down the field to win on a last-second field goal. Maiava was 30-for-43 with 364 yards and two touchdowns through the air last week, and he’ll get a chance to show what we can do again in the national spotlight when USC hosts Michigan in two weeks.

For what it’s worth, USC’s 32 points on Saturday were the fewest the team has scored this season – not too bad at all.
