Q&A: Alize

Playboy Club’s Alize talks Beyoncé dreams, her love for Fortnite, and why Edward from Twilight no longer does it for her.

From dreaming of stardom as a little girl to watching anime in the shower during her only free time, Playboy Club creator Alize opens up about her inspirations, favorite comfort foods, and what happiness really means to her.

PLAYBOY: Where are you from?

Alize: I’m originally born in a small town in Illinois, I live in Oregon right now. I’ve lived in Tennessee growing up as well and Florida. Just a little bit of everywhere.

PLAYBOY: What was the first thing you ever dreamed of achieving?

Alize: When I was really young, the first thing I remember ever telling my mom that I wanted to do was model. I wanted to model and I wanted to be a star.

PLAYBOY: What does that mean to you to be a star?

Alize: At that age I wasn’t really sure. I just saw so much of the luxury and glamorous stuff going on and I thought “I want to be like that.” I want to be who that is or I want to be Beyonce or something as a child. And then I learned about Anna Nicole Smith and I wanted, for some reason, to be like her too.

PLAYBOY: What makes you happiest?

Alize: Honestly the world around me and the environment and the people around me. As long as my friends, my family, and my loved ones are doing well and happy, it usually makes me happier knowing that the people I care about are doing okay.

PLAYBOY: What’s the best piece of advice you were ever given?

Alize: I would have to say the best piece of advice I was ever given was from my grandmother and it was really to honestly keep God first in everything that I do. For a second one, my mother, she always told me whatever I do, to do it right. So, if you’re going to do it, don’t just half ass it or halfway do it. Go put your full 100% potential into it.

PLAYBOY: What’s a food you reach for when you’re feeling blue?

Alize: I like to reach for anything sweet or cheesy. I love sweet foods. Cheesecake, ice creams, anything with cinnamon. I love pancakes, too. I feel like those can be sweet depending on what you put on top of them.

PLAYBOY: What’s a talent that you wish you had?

I don’t know if it counts as a talent or not, but I totally wish I could do the splits. When I was younger, I used to do tumbling and gymnastics, but I stopped and I can’t do a split anymore!

PLAYBOY: Who inspires you?

Alize: I would say my great grandmothers, my mom, and Coi Leray. For Coi Leray, I just think she’s a baddie. She’s come a long way from her beginnings of where she started in the music industry and I feel like she represents the more petite women in all types of industries. I just think she’s a very positive example when it comes to expression and not really caring what other people think.

PLAYBOY: Is there a show, movie, or video game that you’re currently obsessed with?

Alize: I am currently still obsessed with Fortnite. I’m also kind of really big on Demon Slayer right now. I’ve been getting into a bunch of different anime lately. Promise Neverland is one of my favorites. I like Demon Slayer. I like Jitsu Cajun. I care for Naruto some, it got me introduced to anime so it will always have a special place in my heart.

PLAYBOY: Do you watch anime every day?

Alize: I wouldn’t say every day, because I don’t have that much time on my hands anymore, but I try to watch a little bit. I have one of those little protective things you can put your phone in the shower, so I’ll watch while I’m in there—that’s my only free time.

PLAYBOY: Do you believe in astrology?

Alize: I believe in it a little bit. I’m a Leo, so I like to know who I am, I guess, according to the stars, but I don’t play into it all too much. I’m not super into it. I wouldn’t know if I’m compatible with anybody or not based on a sign.

PLAYBOY: Who was the first fictional character you fell in love with?

Alize: Hannah Montana or Edward from Twilight. For Hannah, I was always like, “Wow, she’s just really pretty. She had the pretty hair and an amazing wardrobe.. She was able to be two different people,” which I thought was so cool. For Edward, I just thought he was a really attractive, shiny vampire who could do cool stuff. Not anymore though, I feel like you kind of grow out of that because you realize—he sounds exhausting.

PLAYBOY: Describe your perfect slice of pizza.

Alize: I’m a super picky eater, so my perfect slice of pizza would be a plain cheese pizza. Maybe cheese stuffed crust, but not thin crust.
